We call it a "rivalry," but haven't won since 1990. True, the last four years they won by a combined total of 9 points, but they're unstoppable. They're a football school, we have Minds to Match our Mountains. They win national championships, we win Nobel Prizes.

So most people went to the game today expecting CU would lose a close one, denied the top of the Big XII North. Probably get run over and around. So Nebraska's first series is three-and out, and CU then responds with a touchdown. Not bad, got some momentum. Nebraska then proceeds to fumble deep, setting up an easy touchdown for the Buffs. The Buffs score twice more in the first quarter and walk to the other end up 28-3. The crowd's rockin'. "Twenty-eight three! We can win this!" Nebraska manages to get something going a couple times in the second quarter, and at the half it's 42-23.

Nebraska came out strong in the second half, managing to tackle Brown and Purify, which they hadn't figured out earlier. However, CU managed to play some key defense, and managed to cause a fumble on a goalline dive, holding the lead at 42-30 with 15:00 to go. Everyone's on the edge of their seats. Two TDs takes Nebraska ahead, and they've got it rolling. But CU manages to stuff them, get a TD, an interception, a TD, another interception, and a TD. Crouch showed he was still Heisman material late in the game, but couldn't pull off more than a touchdown. Final score, CU 62-36.

Sixty-two to thirty-six! Nobody's ever scored more than 61 points against the Huskers before! 62-36 is the sort of score Nebraska gets against Podunk Tech. Nebraska didn't even score 62 points in a game this year. That's just absurd!

Drunken fans rushed the field, riding the toppled goal post, and screaming their heads off. I headed back to be on duty. Fortunately, nobody decided to have a post-game party in The Quad.

In other venues of testosterone based entertainment, I saw both Lawrence of Arabia (on video) and Apocalypse Now (in the theater) this week. Both even had extra footage added to the original, making a combined 7 hours spent watching epic films. Good, though.

Incidentally, y'all oughta have some pumpkin-apple-garlic soup for your next Thanksgiving. Nummynummy.
