Someone should develop a way to induce permanent small bumps on the skin. Then people could get braille "tattoos." People could even tattoo their name in braille on the backs of their hands so you could grok someone's name by their handshake.

Also, why do Americans lack a fascination for writing phrases mistranslated into Arabic permanently on their bodies?

While impressive, those look like they're separated by at least half an inch, which wouldn't work for braille which needs 2x3 dots in the width of a finger. I was thinking of something less metal, more precise scarification.
