Idea for a story. Estrogen and Testosterone pills become available for purchase without prescription (the black market, perhaps). People start abusing them. Explore. For more excitement, how's it being produced? Are people extracting their testrostergen? Is it from animals? Is it made in a lab? If the latter, do people cut it with something cheaper?

I had a dream a few mornings ago that my family had to move to Belgium for political reasons. I was regretting that the US and UK were chummy, because I'd prefer to flee to a country where I spoke the language. Belgium seemed to be a mix of cute and industrial. My friend Andy (who'll have a French Ph.D. RSN) appeared and helped translate a few things.

What's the symbology, Dr. Freud? (Is your benzadrine alive...) Am I reduced to using the most foul word in the universe? Do I need more phlegm in my speech?

Testosterone pills don't exist. It's broken down by stomach acid. You'd need injections, or some synthetic form of the hormone. And synthetics wouldn't produce the transgender effects I think you're hinting at the story having.

Unless you make it sci-fi too and include some wacky testosterone pill. Fiction, in a ficticious story? Heavens forbid!

Perhaps you're entering into foreign territory and feel you need someone to translate, because this place is not your choice.

Or you're craving waffles and CNN.

To me at least, the Belgium part isn't nearly as interesting as the "for political reasons" part. That seems to carry a lot of weight in the dream, because you mention it here and you also told me that part when we were discussing this dream earlier. So clearly it was a key element.

To me, that means that you were forced to change your living situation (for me at least, living situation/location in dreams is a direct correlative to my mindset at the time) from one that was comfortable and 'home sweet home' to one you are unfamiliar with and don't know how to communicate in.

So, if I were to draw a piece of advice from this dream, it is to figure out what about your situation lately has shifted such that you are registering (at least subconsciously) discomfort and difficulty of communication, and then find your 'translator.'

But that's me. And I am actually a big Jungian, I think Freud was a mean, stupid, misogynistic pederast speed-freak, but y'know...

Dear Trevor:
Wandering the internet and look what I find... I've been helping you in your dream life. That's hilarious and I'm very glad to have been able to clarify things for you. I enjoyed your writing about Tango. I'd love to dance it on Friday sometime, though right now I'm full up busy. Anyway, I enjoyed being a part of your dream and I look forward to visiting the depths of your mind some other night. Feel free to call upon my services whenever necessary.

Yours,
Andy
