I was feeling (a bit) down because I haven't had much of my favorite sound in the world this fall - my feet slushing, crunching, and clipping through fields of dry leaves. However, since I had to leave campus for a while (*gasp!*), I got a chance to walk around in several fields of dry leaves. Yay! One of my favorite fall activities. It was a lovely day. Walking around in a T-shirt crunch sun shining crinkle nothing major to do slush. And then I left work at about six and it was raining. Silly Colorado. During round one of duty, it was half-way between sleet and snow. By the end of round one, it was real snow. People standing on sidewalks with their tongues out. During round two, there was a full-on snowball fight in the Quad. Wet snow, too. Round three, we encountered a 2' diameter snowball in front of someone's door (a flood waiting to happen).
In sum, (time spent crunching and sloughing through dry leaves)++
(all the leaves are now wet)--
(not having a chance to bike through dry leaves)--
(hopefully going to Pie Night on Saturday) += MAX_INT
In other news, happy third decade Aaron (my first post opportunity to say so). And I learned that Fellowship of the Ring hits theaters on December 19th. I have a final at 10:30 that morning, which puts a bit of a cramp in my style if I want to see it at midnight. Not that I'll feel bad if I see it 14 hours later than other people in my time zone, but seeing a Lord of the Rings movie at midnight when it comes out seems like the sort of thing a geek does, and, as Sarte says, I play at being a geek.
