Thanks to all my homies who gave me a word up on my glorious day of birth in their LiveJournals. Brought a big smile, which is all that counts. No big presents. No huge parties. Little if any alcohol. Just a smile. Gotta dig it.

As is my style, I didn't make a big deal about my birthday. I traded away my originally scheduled duty shift and joined the fun at the Bakery, where, per my request, we had a birthday cake which wasn't filled with ice cream or cream cheese. I came in second in two iterations of Fast Food Franchise, losing to the power that is Steak and Salad. Chatted a bit with folks, casually mentioning that I was working on TITAN for my senior project, and learned that Keith is in favor of getting folks to play TITAN some time. I wonder if I can hit 50 full TITAN games by the end of the school year.

Headed home to hang with the family; at my request it wasn't a huge deal, but I got a couple cool cards, and my brother sent me some virtual crack. Yay! I also got a dark green poet's shirt (spiffy), various pieces of mail, and my best birthday present, a $468 check from the IRS. I thus went from thinking I would cut it close this semester just a month ago to having the better part of two grand in the bank. Oh, and I got 256 megs of RAM for $40 including shipping, roughly tripling my previous memory. MacOS X is much happier now. Next birthday purchase on my list: a unicycle.

At home, my brother informed me that Orbital will be at the Gothic next month, a week after Afro Celt Sound System is at The Historic Boulder Theater. And Tantric is playing the day after Orbital. Probably won't do that, since Travis Meeks seems to have been the key for Days of the New, though Tantric sounds alright. It's a long way to Gothic.

As regards the continuing application of computer science to philosophy, I expanded from my previous objection to my previous point that God is perhaps the perfect unrestricted program. Thus, if God can know Itself as an I/O table, It cannot know any nontrivial I/O properties of itself. Or, in other words, if God can represent Itself as a formal system, God is either inconsistent or incomplete. This is all just a more formal way of saying that God cannot create a rock that He cannot lift. Anyway.

Mad props to this week's Onion for tellin' it like it is.

Walking back from dinner with my residents this evening, some random girl interjected herself into our conversation with a statement along the lines of "He just called you an idiot and you're fine with that. Girls would hold a grudge about that for months." Which started us talking about insults as the sign of guy friends... you don't walk up to a stranger and say "Hey cocksucker! Toss me a beer!" This, accompanied by some comments at last night's RA Diversity Training, "The Gender Journey," got me thinking about my recent girl perspectives. More about that and some relevations from The Gender Journey will follow in my next entry.

Until next time,
Cliffhanga' style.
