Nothing Came Out by The Moldy Peaches

Just because I don't say anything,
Doesn't mean I don't like you.
I open my mouth and I try and i try
But no words came out.

Without 40 oz. of social skills
I'm just an ass in the crack of humanity.
I'm just a huge manitee.
A huge manitee.

And besides you're probably holding hands
With some skinny, pretty girl that likes to
Talk about bands and
All I wana do is ride bikes with you
And stay up late and watch cartoons.

Duck Tales, shirt tails, Talespin, Sailor Moon,
GI Joe, Robotech, Ron Jeremy, Schmoo.

I wanna watch cartons with you.
Josie and the Pussycats and Scooby Do,
I want you to watch cartoons with me.
He-man, Voltron and Hong-Kong-Fui

I tried to ask you to your face
But no words came out.
I put on my hood and walked away,
That doosn't mean I don't like you.

And besides your probably holding hands
With some skinny, pretty girl that likes to
Talk about bands and
All I wanna do is ride bikes with you,
And stay up late and maybe spoon.

Just becase I dont say anything
Doesn't mean I dont like you.
No...
I opened my mouth and i tried and i tried.

And besides you're probably holding hands
With some skiny, pretty girl that likes to
Talk about bands and
All I wanna do is ride bikes with you.
And stay up late and watch cartoons.

I'm just your average Thundercats ho.

For some reason, I was rather inspired during the week surrounding Valentine's Day. My February bulletin boards covered Black History Month (which I'll talk about elsewhere) and "Love, of Yourself, of One Other, or of Many Others." Since this is my rotating sex board, this meant it was about masturbation, mushy love stuff, and polyamory. My resources for the board were:

In the masturbation corner: Self Love Quiz, SoloTouch: Masturbation Resources, Tips, and Experiences, Let's Masturbate: Masturbation Hints and Tips, My Masturbation: Masturbation Stories from Hundreds of Real People, and Good Vibrations - Sex Toys, Books, Videos and Sex Education.

In the love corner: The alt.romance FAQ (including I Love You in a few hundred languages), Valentine's Day cooking pages, LovePoetry.com, and ACME Heart Maker.

For the polyfolk: Polyamory.org (from alt.polyamory, The Polyamory Society, and [livejournal.com profile] polyamory.

I used the ACME Heart Maker to make KITT/WEST hearts for everyone on the staff and affixed small valentines next to everyone's door. I also stuck a 4/SIDE valentine affixed to a muffin and delivered it to Vanessa, the fun catholic girl who was on my staff last year. We got together earlier this week for lunch and talked about life, RAness, and religion. She's so awesome.

Fuel (aka Campus Crusade for Christ's weekly meeting was advertised as "What Is Great Sex?" I knew I'd disagree with the answer, but I went anyway to see what they'd say. The director and his wife got up on stage and talked about how God created sex and meant for it to be pleasurable. It needs to be after you're married; they stressed this, but didn't give much of a reason, other than citing a study which indicated that the divorce is higher among people who cohabitate before marriage than for those who don't. There are several interpretations of that result which don't lead to "don't have sex before you're married." They also stressed that it's about developing a deep spiritual connection with your partner, and being open and communicative with each other. This description is far more in line with my views than I'd expected. They managed to talk about great sex for quite some time without touching on physical arousal. I'm all in favor of great sex as spiritual connection, but you can have a spiritual connection and still have lousy sex if you don't know what to try. But I was glad to go, it was an interesting anthropological experience :-)

I worked in the Kittredge mail room on Tuesday and Friday of that week. I logged 76 packages on Tuesday, and I think we had over 100 on Friday. It's so fun to give people boxes they're so excited about. I was also on duty on Friday night. Pretty quiet, I think most folks went out. By the end of the night there was various condom paraphernalia spread about some of the halls. I spent quite a bit of time researching goddesses of love on Encyclopedia Mythica, among other things. What I was really looking for was a god or goddess of friendship, but I was unable to find one. The closest it seems to get is Oshun, the Yoruba goddess of love, pleasure, beauty, and diplomacy. When I write my own pantheon, I'll definitely include a deity of friendship.

I was doing this research to put together a ritual about love. But I didn't want to be all Valentines-kitchy, so it was about loving yourself, loving other people, and loving the group. Branwen wasn't able to attend, so we had eight folks in the circle, which put me in I Ching mode. I do so love the rich symbolism of that book. The ritual went very well -- everyone enjoyed it a lot, and we're close enough now that the "wheel of love" was very powerful. Afterwords we had some wine and were surfing Brian and Heather's new TV. I suggested we hit up Channel Six for Black Adder. But rather than Rowan Atkinson, it was a hillarious documentary about Maggie Kuhn. She's awesome, I'm amazed I'd never heard of her before.

So, all this should demonstrate that you can have lots of fun with Valentine's Day, even if you haven't had a date in over two years. You just need to expand your scope of "love."
