Mister and Mister Jones
Monday, December 29th, 2003 03:04 amSeveral folks on my friends list linked to the poll on gay marriage lately. When I answered, I think the score was about 95% opposed, 5% for. I just got an email from them noting that, as of noon Saturday, 201,914 were opposed, 378,691 in favor, and 52,238 for civil unions. For those without a calculator handy, that's 632,842 total with a 31.9/59.8/8.3% split. The email also said they'll purge votes without valid email addresses.
Clearly, the American Family Association's email list is smaller than the friends and address books of the pro-choice camp who got wind of this. And remember kids, if it's not a random sample, don't draw any conclusions. But perhaps America is closer to being able to pronounce you man and husband than some people like to think.
