New Pictures
Thursday, December 25th, 2003 05:31 pmI've posted more pictures my gallery.
There are some new photos in the Misc. November Album plus new albums for Thanksgiving, graduation, Winter Solarbration (plus Jewish temple architecture and some spooky ghosts), and solstice sunrise with
stephanova.
Incidentally, Apple's iPhoto has absolutely horrid cache management. I've got about 3.5 GB of pictures on my computer. I think iPhoto caches thumbnails for all of them plus lots of other stuff. When I download new pictures from my camera, iPhoto uses 900-1500 MB of virtual memory. The idea behind thumbnail caching is to speed up viewing. But when the thumbnail cache gets paged to disk, no significant speedup is achieved and it slows everything else down. I should burn all my pictures (on CD) after the new year.
Since iPhoto is so frickin' slow, some of the pictures didn't get rotated yet (even though I tried). I'll do that when I'm on a higher speed connection.

Date: 2003-12-25 10:28 pm (UTC)And yeah... I had remembered "Baneras" when I named the album in iPhoto and then went off that. Google reveals that "baneras" or possibly bañeras is a Spanish word, though my dictionary doesn't have it. Banaras is a Hindu pilgremage site. Thanks for the heads up.

Date: 2003-12-26 12:29 pm (UTC)You might want to consider Shutterfly.com. I don't remember how much they will let you store there but they have an awesome print deal on digital prints - my company has used them for 2 years now and the quality is dynamite - so is the price! In fact, everyone in my office uses them for digital prints and the gallery posting is just a cool side benefit. Easy upload feature too.
just my 2 cents
