God (the Father) created the world alone -- there was no mother goddess. Similarly, the first creatures on earth reproduced asexually. So it was not Man that was made in God's image, but Amoeba.

Eve's punishment for eating from the Tree of Knowledge was pain and death during childbirth for women throughout time. Childbirth pains and complications are caused by the unusually large head of the human baby, which is needed to house our powerful brains. So it is true -- human intelligence came at the price of powerful and dangerous childbirth.
