Call for Pictures (And other bits)

Quickies first:
I think it'd be cool to go on a deaf date. You arrange to meet someone, but you aren't allowed to say (or write) anything to each other once you get together. (Saying things to waiters, taxi drivers, people who ask the time, etc. is okay.) I'm anything but an expert on normal dates, but this seems like a really powerful way to get to know someone without the awkwardness of describing your life.

I've gotten through the first week of class. I'm taking Advanced Operating Systems, Computer Graphics, and Philosophy of Mind. I'm also auditing a graduate seminar in Philosophy of Language. This is a continuation of a course from last year and I know none of the background material, but I was able to make sense of everything during the first class. Plus, the class goes out for drinks after class, so it's like a regular Monday night overeducated social group :-)

It still doesn't feel like I'm back in school. I haven't moved (myself). I'm still working three days a week. I've got large blocks of time where I can sit in the shade and read. I'm paying for meals individually. My idea of college is quite associated with living on campus; this feels more like having meetings in the summer.

Anyway, this post is really a call for picture requests. A couple weeks ago, [livejournal.com profile] sandbar asked readers to tell him things to take pictures of. He then posted the results. Since I've been loving my digital camera, I need assignments! Leave a comment of something I should take a picture of!

(I've got pictures from Santa Fe and other neat images plus some overdue journal entries and the like. I'll try for this weekend, so keep your friend's page on refresh! :-)

Your date idea sounds awesome. :)

Things to take pictures of

So, you want some suggestions for photo subject matter?

  • Boulder Creek
  • Flatirons
  • Pearl Street Mall
    • (Bonus points for well-composed photos that don't use standard 'postcard' views of those 3 subjects)
  • Trevor with Unicycle
    • (You may need help or a timer/tripod setup for that)
  • Labor-Day Celebration/Parade
  • Suburban Wildlife

Have fun!

somewhat unrelated but brought on by your first sentence...

I was asked out on a date by a deaf guy over the summer. It was an incredibly strange and wonderful thing.

let's see....

a horseshoe
camera infinity
melting lollipop on a sidewalk
a lucky charm
bird's eye view of a likely place 'to go'
a shutter button
a knot
a peeping tom
grains
chlorophyll at work
stalactite/stalagimite
something ripe and juicy
decay

I leave it up to your interpretation of the above.
Have fun!!!!
